On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we stop by what could possibly be the most fun atmosphere in the Myrtle Beach area as far as golf courses go. PGA Head Professional, Scott Taylor and his staff have turned River Oaks Golf Plantation from just another golf course to an entertainment venue. The ownership group and management staff have put forth a concertive effort over the last couple of years to transform River Oaks into something new and exciting and they have successfully achieved their goal.
The latest edition to the facilities was done at the clubhouse. We all know the back patio at River Oaks has always been a great place to hang out after a round and have lunch and/or a couple of cold beverages and talk about the round. It was not so good in inclement weather. Management has fixed that problem. A roof has been added to the back patio turning this area into a completely different setting that can be used in all types of weather any time of the year. It is a huge feature now for the course that daily play can enjoy and will most definitely be advantageous when Scott and his staff are hosting any of their dozens of charity golf events played at River Oaks each year. It is now an amazing setting for tournament scoring and post event parties.
The golf course is a hot bed of activity in the winter months. Snowbirds love playing River Oaks. The 27-hole setup allows for multiple tournament type formats for weekly groups and outings. Whether playing the Bear, the Otter or the Fox courses, snowbird groups have the opportunity to enjoy friendly competition while enjoying the mild Myrtle Beach winter weather.
In addition to golf events, don’t forget to keep River Oaks in mind for other types of events. With the upgrade to the back patio, the clubhouse is now a great place to host parties, luncheons or any other type of social function. Being centrally located in the Grand Strand also makes River Oaks Golf Plantation a convenient location for any occasion. As we said before, River Oaks is not just a fun and friendly golf course anymore. It can provide entertainment and dining for any group at any time of the year.
