On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we take a trip to one of our favorite golf courses on the beach.  Prestwick Country Club is located in the heart of the Grand Strand, located just minutes south of Myrtle Beach International Airport a a few block west of the Atlantic Ocean.  The course is heading into the busy springtime golf season and we are taking a look at what Prestwick has to offer it’s visiting golfers.

The first thing we see as we enter through the guard shack into the gated community is the beautiful and large 2-story clubhouse that dominats the view.  Pulling up to the bag drop we are treated by the friendly staff and are directed up the stairs to the golf shop were PGA Head Professional, Jay Smith and his first rate staff await to great golfers and get them started on their experience at this outstanding Pete and P.B. Dye designed golf course.

Once golfers are finished in the golf shop they’re directed into the bar and grill area they can get a drink or bite to eat before heading out for their round of golf.  This spacious area complete with a back porch overlooking both the 9th and 18th holes as they come back to the clubhouse provide an amazing view.

The practice facility and driving range at Prestwick is very spacious and contains everything golfers could want in preparation for their round.  In addition to the driving area there is a large putting green, a chipping area and a short game practice green complete with green side bunker.  If golfers are not ready when they hear to the first tee it is certainly not the golf courses fault!

The golf course itself is in phenomenal shape this time of year.  The plush rolling fairways and smooth, quick greens provide a challenge that can be appreciated by golfers of all ages and ability levels.  Prestwick Country Club has five sets of tees to accommodate all golfers. As the course makes its way through the trees and rolling mounds that border most of the holes golfers get the chance to use every club in the bag.  It is really a spectacular layout to play that makes golfers think about how they are going to play each hole.  It is what a golf experience should be.
