It is always great to visit Diamondback Golf Club at Woodland Valley on our trip around the beach for Tee It Up Grand Strand.  Today we are going to take a look at playing the par 3s on this hidden gem of a golf course.  This Russell Breeden design is the first in the Myrtle Beach area to feature Jensen Ultra Dwarf greens.   As always we will be looking at how to play the holes from the view of an amateur golfer.  That is what we are and we know that is what most of you are too.The 4th hole is the first par 3 we encounter on the front nine.  This short, 134 yard hole in guarded short by a large waste bunker and on the right by 2 small greenside bunkers.  At just 134 yards it is a fairly stress free start.  Make sure to pick the right short iron and put the ball in the center of the green and have a chance at birdie!

No.8 is a very short 106 yard par 3 with the carry over water and sand.  The tee shot can be a little intimidating even though the hole is short.  Choose the short iron or wedge carefully to make sure the hazards are carried and we reach the putting surface.  Par should be the goal here with a shot a birdie being a nice bonus!

As we turn to the back nine we get to see the fun 12th hole as the next par 3.  This 125 yard hole is very straightforward.  The water short and left does not come into play at all unless we really duff it off the tee.  The large round green is very inviting to short irons and wedges that should be seeking the pin.  This par 3 provides the best chase for birdie on the entire golf course.  This is a green light special for sure!

So now that we have been lulled into thinking all the par 3s are going to be shorter and easier, we reach the 180 yard 16th hole that is by far the toughest on the course.  Not only does in have considerable length is also has water down the left hand side up to the green but it also has sand traps short left and right guarding the putting surface.  There may not be a more demanding tee shot on the entire golf course.  Take a deep breath before teeing it up here.  Par is a great score here!
