On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we take a trip to Calabash, North Carolina to see our friends at Meadowlands Golf Club to catch up with the newest member of the staff. Well, he is the new boss, General Manager, Brad Thompson. Brad is excited to step into the role here at the start of 2017 and get ready to guide the ship into the spring golf season and beyond as Meadowlands gets busy as it always does this time of year.
Brad comes to Meadowland Golf Club via Colorado. He moved to the Myrtle Beach area about three years ago. He graduated from the Golf Academy of America in December of 2014. He has been working at Farmstead Golf Links, the sister course to Meadowlands since July of 2015 where he served as golf shop manager until he was recently promoted to General Manager of both Farmstead and Meadowlands. Brad is also a PGA level 1 apprentice in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program.
The golf course superindent at Meadowlands is David Pridgen and Brad is very excited to boast about the work David has put into the golf course this past off-season and the results that they are seeing because of the work. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are already very plush and green. It really looks like it is prime time golf season way ahead of schedule for this time of year. Not that we are surprised by this, we always find Meadowlands to be in great condition no matter what time of year. David is very excited as we come into the spring golf season during the month of March.
2017 is the 20th anniversary year for Meadowlands Golf Club! The celebration will go on all year long at the golf course. There will be special offfers and special events on or around the 20th of the month each month all throughout the calendar year. In honor of this milestone year we will help Brad and his crew promote the monthly events on their Facebook page as well as ours on Myrtle Beach Golf Channel and The GolfDirector. Be sure to visit these pages and LIKE them to keep up to date with all the 20th anniversary celebration events all year long.
