This Tee It Up Grand Strand takes us to one of our favorite courses, Crow Creek Golf Club. Our very good friend, Jimmy Biggs is the PGA Head Professional that has done a fantastic job leading the management and staff to a resurgence of sorts. Crow Creek has always been a great golf course but since Jimmy became Head Pro they have really moved to the top end of the list of courses golfers talk about having to play while in Myrtle Beach.
Located in Calabash, NC Crow Creek opened in 2000. Designed by architect Rick Robbins, it has always been known for being in fantastic condition all throughout the year. The fairways are tifsport Bermuda and that stay manicured to near perfection and are very, very playable no matter the weather. The fairways make playing both fairway woods and hybrids easy as well as irons when taking aim at the greens. That is how good they are.
The putting surfaces are unique to the Grand Strand. The L93 bent grass greens are some of the only bent grass greens on the beach. Bent grass is typically not a warm weather grass but the turf staff at Crow Creek do a fantastic job keeping the greens in good condition. We all know that when bent grass greens are we maintained it is the absolute best surface to putt on. That is what golfers will find when playing Crow Creek Golf Club.
The entire course is a treat to play. Set in the rolling North Carolina countryside, it meanders through tall, Carolina pines and around several lakes located on the property. The Caw Caw River skirts the property as well providing scenic views and feeds some great wildlife that lives in the area. Crow Creek has some gourgeous views that make golfers keep coming back time and time again.
Crow Creek is a friendly atmosphere for beginning golfers and high handicaps and demanding from the back tees for the more advanced golfers with lower handicaps. Play the proper tees to gain maximum enjoyment out of the round. This is just another feature of the course that makes golfers return to play this fun layout.
For golfers looking for an edge when playing Crow Creek for the first time, they can visit the website to hear a hole-by-hole description from Head Pro Jimmy Biggs on how to play each hole. Priceless information that will help golfers get a leg up on their playing partners!
