This year is the 20th anniversary of the opening on Meadowlands Golf Club back in 1997. On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we will take a look at some of the many ways the management and staff are celebrating this milestone in the courses life. They have been having 20th anniversary sales, events and celebrations all year long. This summer there are a couple events that look like they will be can’t miss events for locals and visitors alike. Meadowlands has been know as a very golfer friendly layout from the very beginning and continues that reputation to this day. Golfers of all ages and ability levels enjoy this fun and challenging Willard Byrd and David Johnson design. The golf includes holes that are tree lined with well defined fairways and landing areas and wide open holes that provide fantastic views of the natural landscape on the property. It is truly a great time for all.
The Nine & Wine events were the first of the 20th anniversary celebrations back on January and February 20th. Nine holes of golf, wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres made especially for the event by Meadowlands’ kitchen staff was the highlight of the event. The shotgun start tournament was coordinated by Meadowlands Pro Shop Manager Shawn Denney and Tournament Director Jakob McLamb. The next event was a skills competition for the members of Meadowlands. This putting challenge was a huge hit with all in attendance. 20 putts of various lengths and difficulty were attempted by all participants in keeping with the 20 year theme.
As we can see, all the events are happening on the 20th of the month. Oh and by the way, each of them cost $20 to participate in. What a great deal! Some events are only for the members of the club but others are open to the public also. Either way the management and staff are really enjoying hosting these events and joining the golfers in celebrating the 20th year in operation. There is more on the way.
In May (on the 20th of course) there will be a two-person best ball competition for the next Meadowlands 20th Anniversary event. It begins with a shotgun start at 3pm and is immediately followed by a social at the clubhouse. On June 20th there will be a craft beer tasting event in the clubhouse! There will be an assortment of craft beers from all over the country to be sampled by all in attendance. This is sure to be a sellout event.
