On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we head south to Murrells Inlet and take our first look at Wachesaw Plantation East Golf Club. This Clyde Johnston design is located on a former rice plantation and nestled in among the tall, Carolina pines and wetlands.  This traditional Scottish design was once home of the Kathy Ireland/Greens Competition Classic, and LPGA Tour event.

The golf course here at Wachesaw East has earned several accolades over the years from various golf publications.  It has received awards such as South Carolina Magazine “Top 30 Best You Can Play” in South Carolina, “Top 100 Fairways” (Golf for Women magazine),   Golf Digest “Top 50 Courses” in Myrtle Beach, SC Ranked 26 and a Four Star rating (Golf Digest “Places to Play”).  It is clear that this golf course needs to be on the list of places to play when visiting Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand.

The outstanding low country welcoming atmosphere golfers feel when they arrive on property is another reason to get to Wachesaw East and experience this place.  In fact they have received the 1998 Golf Digest Service Ace Award- #13 in the USA for Customer Service.  Golfers know that they will receive top shelf service long before they event set foot on the golf course.  The management and staff always welcome their guests with a warm smile and friendly attitude and the willingness to go the “extra mile” to ensure an enjoyable experience.

Wachesaw East also boasts a very large practice facility and driving range.  It is a fantastic place to warm up before hitting the first tee.  There is plenty of space to hit balls to dial in the swing on the huge driving range with a large hitting area and wide open range.  The practice area is spacious as well.  The putting green is quite large.  Located just next to it is a nice short game practice area with a sand bunker and chipping green.  There is no part of the game that cannot be practiced just outside the clubhouse doors.  It is very convenient for golfers to get from the clubhouse to the range to the first tee.

For golfers that have not played Wachesaw Plantation East Golf Club they need to get in on the schedule when they visit Myrtle Beach.  It has been around for years and is definitely worth a try.  From the amazing staff to the fun and outstanding golf course, Wachesaw East will be appreciated by golfers of all ages and ability levels.
