On this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand we take a trip up to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina to check out one of the more scenic courses on the north end of the Grand Strand. Brick Landing Plantation Golf Club or “The Brick” as if has affectionately come to be known is the centerpiece of Brick Landing Plantation is its championship 18-hole Ocean Isle Beach. Regarded as one of North Carolina’s finest golf courses “The Brick” provides a challenge to all levels of players as the course makes its way through the natural and beautiful setting.Brick Landing Plantation Golf Club was designed to take full advantage of the terrain’s natural beauty. It weaves throughout the marshes and Intracoastal Waterway. The spectacular layout and scenery are have become the calling card of the golf course. Rolling fairways complimented by manicured Jones Dwarf Bermuda greens provide consistently true bounces and rolling putts. The variety of vegetation, historic oaks and wildlife on the course makes playing it quite the experience as the breeze drifts off of the ocean. It truly is a beautiful setting that will keep golfers coming back again and again.
A very unique feature in the design of the course is the fact that the round starts and finishes along the Intercoastal Waterway looking toward the Atlantic Ocean. Both holes are par 4s. Both holes have not only the Waterway as a border but golfers have to navigate water and sand that wind through the fairways and protect the putting surfaces. These holes are absolutely breathtaking and act as perfect bookends to a course that takes golfers on a trip through what was an old plantation property and is now a gourgeous golf course community.
The practice facility at Brick Landing is a great place for golfers to either warm up before taking on the challenge that awaits or for locals to spend time practicing and honing their skills. The driving range is spacious, the short game area provides great places to practice chipping and putting and the practice putting grean is large with many putting targets to help prepare golfers for the task of putting the smooth greens on the golf course.
